Starting in 2000 at age 6, Rachel Trachtenburg toured the world as the daughter and drummer in the
Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, a conceptual art-rock family pop band.
Rachel Trachtenburg has garnered national attention for her fashion, political activism, art and music. She has been featured in the New Yorker, Teen Vogue, Spin, The New York Times style section and on the cover of the premiere issue of Time Out New York Kids. Rachel most recently made headlines at City Hall by challenging New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's unauthorized term limit extension. Rachel is also actively involved in working to eliminate horse-drawn carriages from the streets of New York City and has composed an original song for the cause as well as bringing attention to the plight of pigeons with a song for them too.
About the Show:
This premiere video episode showcases a day in the life at Rachel's New York City apartment, complete with surprise guest appearances from some of Rachel's eccentric east village friends who stop by and share their own talents along the way.
Consisting of a set of original songs, a Pink Floyd song and homemade puppets, the overall theme of "Rachel Trachtenburgs Homemade World" is to look beyond the surface and think independently.
The set, props and costumes have all been compiled from recycled materials. Rachel Trachtenburgs Homemade World is a show that teaches kids and adults to be happy with what they have. It teaches kids to make art and music with their families. The Show has been described as a "Martha Stewart for Kids", a "Psychedelic Sesame Street", and "Syd Barrett meets Mr. Rogers children's entertainment."
