-Hands on Plastic Camera Technique-
Using the vintage inspired Dianna camera, participants explore different analog film techniques on a walk about “photo journey”, including a trip to Lomography and hands on lessons at Vaudeville Park.
Taught by Laura Nealon.
-June 19th to July 10th, Sat 12-3pm
$30 per individual class, $100 for the 4 week course (plus discounted price of Dianna camera purchase $39.99)

-Hands on Music, Electronics and Production Workshop-
A priceless hands on workshop for any resourceful musician seeking innovation, or music ethusiasts alike.
Taught by Phil Moffa
Week 1: build your own contact mic and instrument cable ($12 parts expense)
Week 2: synthesis workshop (history, types of synthesis, theory, hands on sound design) (NO parts expense)
Week 3: light sensitive theremin ($15 parts expense)
Week 4: circuit bend (bring your own electric toy to take apart + $10 for parts)
-June 20th to July 11th; Sunday 12-2pm
$30 per individual class, $100 for the 4 week course (plus listed lab materials expense)

-Jim Campilongo, Guitar Workshop
Hailed as an “American Treasure”, between his band with Norah Jones, repeat apperances on David Letterman and Conan O’Brien, Jim Campilongo’s incredible style and talent makes him one of the most recognized guitarists alive.
A two hour “bring your guitar” hands on unique master class with this living legend; and a take home workshop recording!
-Sunday June 20th, 4pm
$30 for the individual workshop

-Voice Over Workshop-
This highly anticipated workshop will be an introduction to the voice over process in a hands on setting taught by experienced producer Art Bonanno. How to make a reel, how to start in the voice over field, and a live workshop recording!
-Sunday, June 27th, 4pm
$30 for individual workshop

-Photo Collage and Painting-
Wed, June 23rd to July 21st; 6-8:30pm, 5 weeks
$25 per individual class, $100 for the 5 week workshop series
Taught by Andrew Prayzner

A five night class where students will learn how to integrate painting with collage and photo realist techniques. A fresh and exciting look at mixed media for the aspiring or advanced visual artist.

Brent Arnold, cellist, composer, & songwriter is celebrating the release of his new album with a special inter-media event at Vaudeville Park(www.vaudvillepark.com) in Brooklyn this Sunday at 8pm. This is the first part of an ongoing series of installations and performances at Vaudeville Park entitled “Music as Art/ Music is Art”. Brent will perform his music for solo cello, voice and electronics, accompanied by live video art on two opposing screens created by Daniel Perlin and Brian Zegeer. Exciting and delicious cocktails are served free at the open bar (for those 21 and over) with price of entry. Brent Arnold uses a cello, his voice, and a battery of effects pedals to create songs of strange, intense beauty. With an unorthodox yet virtuosic approach to the instrument, his music ranges from minimal to massive, often within a single song. He has been compared to cello pioneers like Arthur Russell and Tom Cora, as well as classical/pop tinkerers like Andrew Bird and Owen Pallett and the heavy beauty of Sigur Rós and Explosions in the Sky. His unique talents have led him to work with artists including Modest Mouse, DJ/Rupture, Eyvind Kang, Karl Blau, and Filastine.

Starring: Melanie Torres, Ruthie Scarpino, Angelica Pinna-Perez, and Dan Theisen Stage Lighting Design by Greg Goff Costumes and Sets by Rachel Frank Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 Doors open at 7:30; Performance starts at 8:00 p.m. sharp. A brochure with an essay by New York-based writer, Stephen Tateishi, is included with admission. Read the write-up in *Latecomers will not be admitted once the performance has started.

Sleep of Reason uses the allegorical narratives in Francisco Goya’s Los Caprichos and The Disasters of War series to examine the theatrical/performance implications of prisoner torture and abuse depicted in the Abu Ghraib photographs. The performance is set up in a tableau vivant manner: staged still scenes are briefly illuminated with a flash of light cutting through longer periods of darkness. The performance is not an exact reproduction of the images in the photos, but rather, like Goya’s prints, uses fantastical costume and allusion as an allegorical critique. Referencing his works, the costumed performance suggests the recurrent darkness beneath the rational and enlightened society of today.

Showpaper has dabbled with indie movie premieres, live video art and archival cartoons - but SPIFF represents the org’s first “movie sandwich”, a curated collection of student, underground, amateur and experimental films to be premiered at the arts space Vaudville Park. Highlights include AIM-chatting pumpkin stalkers, a pantsless violinist, a claymation sex allegory, pets hooked up to oxygen masks, a gorgeous Haruki Murakami adaptation and much much more.
